Dragon dance is one of the Chinese traditional folk performances in festive celebrations like the Chinese new year, to bring good luck to people. Younger children are often given this DIY paper dragon product to assemble and simulate the dragon dance at home or in the classroom.

Dragon (龙 long) is a legendary creature in Chinese mythology and folklore culture who have control over water, rainfall, typhoons, and floods. Unlike the intimidating and evil image in western mindset, Chinese dragon is a symbol of auspicious power, strength, and good luck in East Asian culture. During the days of Imperial China, the Emperor of China usually used the dragon as a symbol of his imperial strength and power. Chinese people call themselves "descendants of the Dragon".

Also Chinese dragon is commonly depicted as snake-like with four legs, different from the dinosaur-like wingy western version.

  • The dragon's "flexible body" is made of accordion-like paper that can be twisted and adjusted, ranging from 5cm to 71 cm long.
